You want to see what people are working on before committing to anything.

Everything else starts here. No technical skill needed.

Email · Minutes
You would rather write to a person than join a chat server.

Goes to the volunteer team. Good for offers of help that do not fit a form.

Report · Minutes
You spotted something wrong. A broken page, outdated info, a wrong number.

GitHub keeps a record others can pick up. Discord works if you have no account. Primary: Open a bug report (opens in a new tab). Alternative: say it in Discord.

Ideas · Minutes
You have an idea for something BetterGov should build.

The form files it as a GitHub issue. Discord is better for half-formed ideas. Primary: Share an idea. Alternative: talk it through in Discord.

Data · An hour
You can fix or add government data: directories, hotlines, services.

Plain JSON. Edit on GitHub without cloning anything.

Code · An evening
You write code and want a scoped first task.

Read CONTRIBUTING.md first. It covers setup and the PR flow.

Review · An evening
You can read code and give feedback, often more useful than writing more.

Reviews are the scarcest thing in most open-source projects.
