President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. values honesty, competence, and dedication to public service, emphasizing that these qualities matter more than a person’s age or social status.
In a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Office Claire Castro said President Marcos believes anyone capable of serving the country must show genuine commitment to help Filipinos, particularly those in marginalized sectors.
“Ang Pangulo naman po, ito ang laging binabanggit at sinasabi: Anuman ang estado mo sa buhay, mayaman ka, mahirap ka, kung ikaw ay may kakayahan na magtrabaho, magsilbi para sa bayan, iyan po ang numero uno para sa Pangulo – ang totoo at dedikado, may dedikasyon na makapagsilbi sa bayan,” said Castro.
Castro said Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor Commissioner Zofia Canlas has long been part of the PCUP, previously served as chief of staff to the Commission’s chairperson, and has familiarity with the agency’s work and a sincere commitment to public service.
The Palace Officer said that public servants must have the dedication and compassion necessary to fulfill their responsibilities, especially when working with Filipinos in vulnerable situations.
She also explained that the PCUP helps facilitate negotiations with affected informal settler families, assess their needs, and ensure that their transfer to another location does not place an undue burden on them. | PND
