History

1. 27 July 1981 - Executive Order No. 709
   Creation of FIDA

   Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA) created and mandated to promote the growth and development of Philippine natural fiber, except cotton.

2. 11 February 1998 - Republic Act No. 8486
   Creation of CODA

   Cotton Development Administration (CODA) created and mandated to undertake initiatives that will spur the growth of the local cotton industry.

3. 04 October 2004 - Executive Order No. 366
   Rationalization of the executive branch

   Then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed and approved Executive Order No. 366, entitled "Directing a Strategic Review of the Operations and Organizations of the Executive Branch and Providing Options and Incentives for Government Employees Who May Be Affected by the Rationalization of the Functions and Agencies of the Executive Branch" to rationalize Philippine bureaucracy.

4. 29 May 2013 - Approval of Rationalization Plan
   Consolidation into PhilFIDA

   Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved the Rationalization Plan of the two (2) attached agencies of the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA) and the Cotton Development Administration (CODA), resulting in their consolidation into the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA).
