Voluntary Coverage

SSS coverage is voluntary for non-working spouses, separated employees, self-employed members with no income, and OFWs whose overseas employment has ended.

Who may be covered voluntarily

SSS coverage is voluntary for:

Non-working spouse (NWS) — Who devotes full time to managing household and family affairs.
Covered employee (EE) — Covered employee who was separated from employment.
Self-employed (SE) member — Self-employed member who realizes no income.
Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) — Upon termination of his/her employment overseas.
