Resilient institutions continuously improve by listening, evaluating, and adapting. Guided by this principle, leaders of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Science High School (DOST-PSHS) System convened on 22 June 2026 at the PSHS Main Campus in Quezon City for the first day of the Campus Directors and Curriculum and Instruction Division (CID) Chiefs Summit.
The gathering brought together campus directors and academic leaders from the System's 16 campuses to review how the curriculum was experienced during School Year 2025-2026 and identify priorities for the coming academic year.
Participants examined Subject Implementation Reports, Student Feedback Reports, and Standards-Based Assessment (SBA) results. Workshops also provided opportunities to address concerns, share best practices, and develop policies for School Year 2026-2027.
Feedback from teachers and students showed that the enhanced Grade 7 and Grade 8 curriculum has generally been implemented successfully. Teachers reported that learning competencies were largely achieved while identifying areas for improvement in pacing, learning activities, and support resources.
Students highlighted their appreciation for laboratory work, hands-on activities, and intellectually stimulating lessons. Their responses reflected the curriculum's strong emphasis on inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking.
At the same time, many scholars noted the challenges of managing advanced concepts, assessments, and rigorous coursework. These insights underscore the importance of balancing academic excellence with student well-being and holistic development.
Another major focus of the summit was the preparation of common implementation guidelines, frequently asked questions, and instructional materials for the upcoming systemwide In-Service Training (INSET) of teachers. These outputs are expected to promote greater consistency across campuses.
The summit will resume on 26 June 2026. Participants will continue refining these materials and discuss initiatives such as the Grade Level Assessment Tracker and the roles and responsibilities of Batch Coordinators.
The System aims to ensure that its curriculum remains responsive to the needs of future Filipino scientists, innovators, and leaders.
